"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood"

Our Swingset

The Path to the Neighborhood is designed to educate potential buyers, about the living at Trillium Hollow, and to ensure that you understand and share our fundamental agreements and philosophies. This is a voluntary but recommended process. While we strongly urge potential members to follow it, the Community does not make a decision to "accept" or "reject" someone wishing to purchase a home at Trillium. We hope that this process will lead you to the right decision for yourself and the community through better understanding of each other.

What is the Path to the Neighborhood?

As you walk this path you will learn more about Trillium Hollow and how it works. The path is a series of activities including; attendance at community meetings, team meetings, work parties, community dinners, and a "get-together" with a group of community members. It is a flexible process.

What To Expect

The Path to the Neighborhood is largely self-guided. Members take the initiative when they want something accomplished and we expect the same of you. The goal is to give you an opportunity to get to know who we are as a Community and as individuals. We also want an opportunity to get to know you. We have found that the better informed you are coming into the Community the more you will enjoy the experience of living at Trillium Hollow.

The Path to the Neighborhood

Before making a sales offer, please be sure to do the following:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the concept and workings of cohousing. Walk around. Say "hi" to people and ask questions. Trillium Members are friendly and willing to help you find your way.
  2. Be sure you have read the following Trillium Hollow materials:
    1. Our Members
    2. Bylaws
    3. Collections Policy
    4. On Consensus
  3. If you haven't found a "buddy" please choose someone in the Community. Our community is about people and just reading about us is no substitute for having a friend here. A "buddy" is an invaluable resource.
  4. Talk to as many members as you can. Here are some great opportunities to meet Trillium members:
    1. Potlucks
    2. Community meals
    3. A work party
    4. A business meeting
  5. The final step is to meet with a small group of Trillium Hollow neighbors to have a heart-to-heart talk about our fundamental Trillium goals and philosophies. Let's make sure, before you sign on the dotted line that,
    1. You are willing to learn, participate in, and respect the Consensus decision making process.
    2. You will contribute to the work that keeps this community alive and healthy in a manner consistent with our norms and policies.
    3. You've put some thought into which work team(s) they would like to join.
    4. That you understand and have are willing to abide by the bylaws, including mediation/arbitration, teams, and other agreements of the community.

Completion

Once the steps of the "Path to the Neighborhood" have been completed, you should feel comfortable and ready to make an offer to purchase a Unit.
